FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator tells me how big my gold position should be?

The position size calculator answers that. You enter your account balance, the risk you are willing to take and your stop distance in pips, and it returns the lot size for XAU/USD. Remember that 1 standard lot is 100 oz and one pip is 0.01, so the pip distance drives the result.

How do I work out the margin a gold trade will tie up?

Use the margin calculator. It takes your lot size and the leverage cap that applies to the entity serving Kenya and shows the margin required; at that cap a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50. Margin is not a cost, it is capital held aside, and it moves as the position is marked to market.

What is one pip worth on XAU/USD and which tool shows it?

The pip value calculator shows it. For gold, one pip is 0.01 and a standard lot is 100 oz, so the money value of a pip depends on your lot size and on the currency your account is held in. Enter both and the tool converts the result for you.

Can I check profit before I place the trade?

Yes. The profit calculator takes your entry, exit, lot size and direction and returns the gain or loss in account currency. It is arithmetic only; it cannot account for the spread, commission or swap your broker applies, so treat the figure as an estimate of the price move.

What are pivot points and which tool builds them?

Pivot points are levels derived from a previous session's high, low and close, used as reference for support and resistance. The pivot points tool calculates them for the session you choose. They are descriptive levels, not signals, and gold can trade straight through them.
